LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) MPA Rana Shoaib Idrees, who was caught on tape attacking a police station in Faisalabad, was presented in the Lahore High Court today and was given protective bail till August 11, Express News reported.
Idrees and his accomplices allegedly attacked the Khurarianwala police station in order to free his companions two days ago. The accused are said to have tortured and injured a police Sub Inspector, Riyasat Ali, and other police officials and also damaged official property of the station.
While speaking to Express News, Idrees defended himself, saying the footage that the police presented as evidence against him is over a year old, of an incident that occurred before the general elections.
He said that he went to the police station on the night of July 19 but did not torture any police sub inspector, adding that instead the inspector was beaten up by a mob.
Furthermore, the MPA added he was hiding from the police for the past three days as they were conducting raids and he feared being framed because he spoke out against ‘police culture’.
